Happy Birthday America! Who else is planning to celebrate all weekend long, plus Monday and Tuesday too? We’re not sure who makes up the rules about when to observe holidays, but we’re all about any reason to extend the party. So, tell us whiskey girls, how are you preparing for this weekend of festivities? We’ve got a few tips for an amazing 4th of July weekend. Take a look! We’ll keep it short and sweet…
The start to a good time is an even better look. Looking to stay comfy and cool? Take a page out of Julia Engel’s book and go with a simple, but sweet cotton dress. White can be dangerous if you’re pigging out, but it’s also a great way to be festive with subtlety.
Or maybe you’re hoping to pull off a balanced approach to glam and casual. Meghan of Whit and Whimsy suggests some adorable tops to pair with jeans. The cold shoulder style is definitely in and manages to add a sexy flare to even the most simple of tops.
And we would be remiss if we didn’t offer up a slew of options from Amy of Dallas Wardrobe. She’s got all the style and all in red, white, and blue. We love it!
We love sunshine as much as the next whiskey girl, but be kind to your skin and make sure you cover up if you’re going to be outdoors. Sophie Davies of The Private Life of a Girl outlines 3 basic steps to follow to protect yourself from sun damage. We mean it ladies! Don’t slouch on this one.
While we’re on the subject of covering up while under the summer sun, consider adding a hat to the mix. Polished Closet has an option for most any outfit you can think of! If you don’t think of yourself as a hat person, maybe you just haven’t met the right one.
Did we mention the heat? We don’t want you melting away when you should be partying away. Laura Louise’s beauty tips will help you keep your cool. From the obvious (deodorant) to the not so obvious (ice therapy masks), this lady has you covered.
How fun is this pink salt hairspray from A Beautiful Mess? If the summer heat flattens your hair, freshen up your locks with this concoction for lovely smelling beach waves.
We cannot stress how important it is to stay hydrated. You know it’s our ultimate mantra here at Whiskey Girl. Try this 4th of July Sangria on for size…
White Peach and Berry Sangria
- 1 cup Whiskey Girl Peach
- 1-2 bottles Pinot Grigio (or white wine of your choice)
- 3 tbsp lemon juice
- 4 white peaches, chopped (peeling optional)
- 2 lemons, sliced
- ½ cup blueberries
- 1 cup strawberries, halved
- Sugar or simple syrup (to taste)
Directions: Combine Whiskey Girl Peach, wine, and fruit in a large bowl or pitcher and stir to combine. Add sugar as needed for desired sweetness. Chill in fridge until ready to serve. Note: chilling overnight will allow flavors more time to combine and give the sangria a nice pink color, but the fruit will not look as fresh and bright. The sangria is equally delicious when served right away!
Have the best weekend ever! Much love whiskey girls!
